These eight rnds form cable pattern

Poncho starts at collar and is worked down.

With 6 mm needles cast on 72sts and work in the round in k2, p2 ribbing for 8-10", depending on how long you want the turtle neck to be. Change to 60cm 7 mm needles and set pattern as follows:
Rnd 1: Pm (left shoulder), k14, work first rnd of cable pattern (center front), k14, pm (right shoulder), k14, work first rnd of cable pattern (center back), k14.
Rnd 2: *Sm, k1, m1, k13, m1, work row 2 of cable pattern, m1, k13, m1, k1, repeat from * once.
Rnd 3: Work knits and purls and cable pattern as set with no increases.
Rnd 4: *Sm, k1, m1, k15, m1, work rnd 4 of cable pattern, m1, k15, m1, k1, repeat from * once.

Rnd 6: *Sm, k1, m1, k17, m1, work rnd 6 of cable pattern, m1, k17 m1, k1, repeat from * once.
Rnd 7: as rnd 3
Rnd 8: * Sm, k1, m1, K19, m1, work rnd 8 of cable pattern, m1, k19, m1, k1, repeat from * once.

Continue to work increases and cable pattern as set until 11 increase rnds in total have been worked. Continue to work increases on either side of cable as before but not at shoulders. You may remove marker at right shoulder but leave the one at the left shoulder as it marks the start of your rnd. Work as established until piece measures 30" from base of collar along cable pattern. When there are enough sts you can change to the longer circular needle.

Next row: Decrease 20 sts in rnd (1 at center of each cable and 9 sts evenly between cables)

Work 3 rnds in garter st. starting with a purl rnd. Cast off in knit.

Fringe:
Cut yarn into lengths of 10". Take two strands and fold in half. With crochet hook loop through cast off rnd and fasten. Repeat in every third st along cast off rnd.
