Van Dyck Pullover Detail

This pattern uses Van Dyck yarn (46% Wool, 15% Alpaca, 39% Acrylic). Each ball is 100gm/107m.

MEASUREMENTS:
BUST 48"
SLEEVE 17"
LENGTH 28"

MATERIALS: 8 balls Van Dyck #202 Denim

NEEDLES: One pair each 6.5 mm and 8 mm

GAUGE: approx. 12 sts/14 rows to 4"

TERMS:
3-needle bind-off = place right sides together, back stitches on one needle and front stitches on another. *Knit 2 stitches together (1 from front needle and 1 from back needle). Repeat from * once. Pass first stitch over 2nd stitch. Continue to knit 2 stitches together (1 front stitch and 1 back stitch) and bind off across.
k = knit
k2tog = knit 2 stitches together
p = purl
st(s) = stitch(es)
tbl = through back loops

Back:
With 6.5 mm needles cast on 70 sts and work 3 rows k1, p1 ribbing. Change to 8 mm needles and work in stockinette st until piece measures 18”.

Shape Armhole:
Next Row: K1, k2tog work to last 3sts, k2tog tbl, k1.
Next Row: P.
Repeat last two rows 6 more times. (56 sts) Continue without further shaping until armhole measures 9".

Shape Neck:
K 22 sts. Turn. Cast off 2 sts at beginning of this row and following alternate row. (18 sts)
Leave sts on st holder. Slip center 12 sts onto a st holder. Rejoin yarn to remaining sts and complete to match other side.

Front:
Work as for back until armhole measures 6.5".

Shape neck:
K 25 sts. Turn. Cast off 2 sts at beginning of this row, work to end. Work one row.*Cast off two sts at beginning of next row and work to end. Work next row to last 3 sts, k2tog tbl, k1. P next row. Repeat from * once.
Continue without shaping until piece measures same as back to shoulder. Leave sts. on a st holder. Slip center 6 sts onto a st holder. Rejoin yarn to remaining sts and complete to match other side.

Sleeves:
With 6.5 mm needles cast on 30 sts. Work 1x1 ribbing (k1,p1) for 2" increasing by 8 sts across last row. Change to 8 mm needles and work stockinette st increasing by 1 st at each end of 5th and every following 4th row until 64 sts on needle. Work without shaping until sleeve measures 17". Work 14 rows of back armhole shaping. Cast off.

Neck:
Join right shoulder by working 3-needle bind-off. With 6.5 mm needles pick up 17 sts along left front, 6 sts from holder, 17 sts up right front and 26 sts across back including 12 sts from holder. Work k1, p1 ribbing for 4" cast off loosely in ribbing.

Finishing:
Join left shoulder by working 3-needle bind-off. Sew up neck band. Join side and sleeve seams to the start of armhole shapings. Set in sleeves.
